Hey curly! Hopefully, I have all your questions covered here!
Should You Get a Curly Cut?
If you have naturally curly hair, the right cut can make all the difference. Curly cuts are designed to work with your hair’s natural texture, enhancing curl shape and giving your hair movement and definition.
You might want a curly cut if:
Your curls feel weighed down or shapeless.
You struggle with uneven curl patterns (that straight clump that always appears)
You want to leave the salon knowing how your hair will look with beautiful natural curl
( not being told to have it dried smooth only for your stylist to put a curl back in with a hot tool)
You wear your hair natural all of the time
You have never had a professional show you how to treat your curls to get the most out of them
What Makes a Curly Cut Different?
Curly hair is different!
Curly hair has its own unique patterns, textures, and shrinkage that require a different approach:
Cut Dry, Not Wet – Curly hair behaves very differently when wet. Wet hair and curls stretch, so cutting hair while wet can often result in unexpected loss of length. Cutting dry allows the stylist to see the natural curl shape and how each curl will fall, ensuring the cut works with your hair, not against it.
Shape Around the Curl – Each curl is unique. A curly cut works with your hair’s natural pattern rather than against it, so your curls sit beautifully and have more bounce.
Layering for Movement Proper layering reduces bulk, enhances curl definition, and prevents “triangle” or “pyramid” shapes that can happen with regular haircuts.
Personalized to You – Everyone’s curls are different. A curly cut takes into account your hair density, curl type, face shape, and lifestyle, so it works effortlessly day-to-day.
Can I get a Curly Cut if my hair isn't always worn curly?
A curly cut is specifically designed to work with your natural curl pattern. It’s not recommended if you usually wear your hair straight, as the cut is shaped around curls rather than a sleek, straight line.
That said, it works beautifully for curly blowouts or natural styles, giving your curls definition, bounce, and movement while keeping your hair healthy and balanced.
Will a Curly Cut Make My Hair More Curly?
A curly cut doesn’t create new curls but understanding how to treat, touch, and style your hair and learning what really works from a professional can make your curls appear more defined and lively.
A curly cut sets the shape, but it’s your care and styling techniques that bring out the full bounce, volume, and texture of your natural curls.
Why is a curly cut more expensive?
Curly cuts are booked out for 2 hour of my time as opposed to the classic 1 hour. specialist knowledge, and precision compared to a standard straight cut. I work with each curl individually, cutting dry to see its natural pattern, layering to enhance shape and bounce, and sharing expert styling advice so your curls look their best at home.
It’s a bespoke, specialist service designed specifically for your hair’s texture and pattern.
How long does it take?
I would allow 1 1/2 - 2 hours for your appointment
Do I need to do anything different before I come to see you?
Yes please follow these instructions.
Hope to see your curls soon!
